Privacy Policy

We treat your data with seriousness and with restraint. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who can ever see it, and the rights you have to control it. If anything here is unclear, write to us and we will explain it.

This policy applies to the INSIGHTS website and to any forms, newsletters, applications, or event registrations we run through it. It was last reviewed in 2026 and is updated whenever our practices change.

1. The principle behind this policy

We collect the least data we can, we use it only for the reason you gave it to us, and we never treat the people who read our work as a product to be sold. Everything below follows from that principle. Where a choice exists between collecting more data or less, we collect less.

2. What we collect

We collect personal information only when you provide it voluntarily, through our newsletter signup, membership form, internship and job applications, event registrations, and contact or pitch forms. Depending on the form, this may include your name, email address, institutional affiliation, the content of your message or application, and any links or documents you choose to share with us.

We also collect a small amount of non-identifying technical information when you visit, such as which pages are read most often, so that we can decide what to write and how to improve the site. This is aggregate information about traffic, not a profile of you.

3. Why we use it, and the basis for doing so

We use your data only for the specific purpose for which you submitted it: to send you the newsletter you asked for, to process and respond to your application, to register you for an event, or to reply to your enquiry or pitch. Our basis for processing is your consent, given when you choose to submit a form, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.

We do not use personal data for algorithmic profiling, behavioural targeting, or automated decision-making of any kind.

4. Who processes your data

Form submissions are delivered to us through a third-party form service that passes your message to our official inbox. Newsletter and application data is stored in standard, access-controlled tools used only by authorised members of the INSIGHTS team. These providers process data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. We do not share your data with anyone else.

5. What we never do

We do not sell, lease, or rent your personal data. We do not share it with third parties for commercial purposes. We do not run targeted advertising. And we do not, under any circumstances, share personal data with political parties, campaigns, or candidates. Our independence requires this, and we treat it as non-negotiable.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use only the minimal cookies necessary for the site to function and, if enabled, a privacy-respecting analytics measure that tells us which pages are read. We do not use cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not permit third parties to track you across other websites through us. If we adopt a more detailed analytics tool in future, this section will be updated before it goes live.

7. How long we keep it

We retain personal data only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Application data is kept for up to two years so we can consider you for future opportunities, after which it is deleted. Enquiry and pitch correspondence is kept only as long as the conversation remains active or useful.

8. International transfers

Some of the tools we use may store data on servers outside India. Where that is the case, we take reasonable steps to ensure the data is handled with protections consistent with this policy.

9. Children and minors

Our forms and services are intended for adults and for students at the university level and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a minor has submitted data to us, write to us and we will delete it.

10. Your rights

You can ask us at any time to show you the data we hold about you, to correct anything that is inaccurate, or to delete it entirely. You can also withdraw consent for any use you previously agreed to. To exercise any of these rights, write to info@insightsthink.org, and we will respond within fifteen working days.

11. Security and breach notification

We use standard security measures to protect the data we hold. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. In the event of a breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you within seventy-two hours of becoming aware of it, and tell you plainly what happened and what we are doing about it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy as our practices evolve or as the law requires. When we make a material change, we will update the review date at the top of this document. For questions about anything here, write to info@insightsthink.org.
